CALL TO ARTISTS FOR THE 2021 ANNE MCKEE ARTIST’S FUND AUCTION
The Anne McKee Artists Fund of the Florida Keys, Inc. announces a Call to Artists for their 2021 Fine Art Auction. To observe social distancing, the auction will be held online, February 4 – 17.
The submission period for artwork opens October 8th and closes at midnight November 15th (EDITOR'S NOTE Possible Extension : Call to Find Out).  Applications are available and submitted online, with accompanying photo(s), at www.mckeefund.org.
Artists will be notified of acceptance no later than December 1, 2020. The Anne McKee Artists Fund of the Florida Keys, Inc., in its sole discretion, determines whether art submitted will be accepted for auction.
From February 4 – 17, 2021 The Studios of Key West will host a gallery show of accepted works available for up close and personal viewing. Bidding begins and ends on these dates as simultaneously these works will appear on the online McKee Fund auction site.
Up for bid will be original paintings, sculpture, photography, fiber art, ceramics, mixed media, jewelry and more.
Each participating artist receives 50 percent of the proceeds from the sale of his or her work, while the McKee Fund receives the remainder to award to other Keys artists for select projects
“We’ve always loved bringing artists and art collectors together for an evening of live-auction fun. Due to our commitment to current social responsibilities our 2021 auction is taking an exciting new turn... we're hosting our auction online! ” said Roberta DePiero, Auction Chairman.
The online auction offers extra benefits to artists and collectors alike. With the site live for two weeks, buyers have more time to consider their bids, and artists get additional exposure for their works.
Plus, folks who can’t be in Key West in February still get a chance to see and buy wonderful local art,” adds DePiero.
The annual art auction raises money for project-based grants to Keys visual, literary and performing artists.
Founded by longtime Key West resident Anne McKee, the not-for-profit fund has awarded more than $317,000 since 1994.

BIG NEWS! We have worked for months on a COVID plan that would allow us to present theater "live" while ensuring the health and well-being of everyone involved. Our board members agreed that a space we could "control" was a must. We are excited to announce that Fringe will be renting the first floor at the Armory, located at 600 White Street, from the Historic Florida Keys Foundation. This is a big move for us -- in more ways than one. But we believe it's the right move since it lets us present our 2020-21 Main Stage season in a space that accommodates social distancing and all the other appropriate health protocols. We've got lots more great news to announce about our season. We're going to be trying a lot of things, and we hope that you will be there with us ... in whatever way makes you comfortable! 'Fringe at the Armory' will remain Key West's community-focused theater. Now more than ever! www.fringetheater.org

KEY WEST, FL – Monroe County Project Management completed an upgrade of the railings at Reynolds Street Pier at Higgs Beach. The railings were replaced per a grant Monroe County received to repair the pier and make the pier ADA compliant. The initial design included a cable railing, that was later found to not perform as well as anticipated in the salty coastal conditions. A redesign allowed the railings to be placed only where needed for safety concerns and ADA compliance. The new railings can be found at the entrance and at the end of the pier where the water is shallow, or where hazards may be in the water. We Now Start Part 3 of Probably 8 Weeks of showing an AMAZING 120+ Collection of Classic Cars Owned by Jay Leno "Jay Leno's Garage". He also had a CNBC TV Show Featuring his 120 Classic Cars WWW.LENOSGARAGE.COM
ABOVE LEAD TEASE PHOTO
36. 1936 Cord 812
Model Year: 1936, Original Value: $2,960*, Current Value: $150,000*

Jay Leno sang the praises of his 1936 Cord 812, stating that it was one of his favorite cars. It was designed in a style similar to Duesenberg’s, which is one of his favorite car companies. The car is very innovative, and the 1936 Cord 812 was produced for just two years in 1936 and ’37. The 1936 Cord 812 was the first car with front-wheel drive and an independent front suspension to be designed and built in America. The car was produced by Cord Automobile, which was a subsidiary of the Auburn Automobile Company. The Cord is often nicknamed “the Baby Duesenberg.” and a 1956 CHEVY NOMAD (Description in Section 2 of this Issue)

BELOW

31. 1963 Jaguar E-Type Coupe
Model Year: 1963,Original Value: $5,495*,Current Value: $181,693*

Leno prefers the coupe form of this 1963 Jaguar E-Type, as opposed to the much-vaunted convertible model. Leno took this ’63 E-Type for a spin on his show, Jay Leno’s Garage. This ’63 car has only had one owner before Leno, who purchased it directly from the original owner. The E-Type Coupe still has the same 3.8L straight-six under the hood. The sleek car is one of the better-kept E-Type Coupes in existence, as Leno has rarely driven it outside of the local neighborhood. The car is painted in the style of a traditional British racing car from the sixties.

33. 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T
Model Year: 1970, Original Value: $4,900*, Current Value: $450,000-$650,000*

Leno described this 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T as one of his favorite muscle cars of all time. He bought it in 2008, at the same time that Craig Jackson purchased his (Jackson and Leno picked the cars up at the same place). Leno replaced the four-speed manual transmission with an automatic one, but, other than that, he left the orange-and-black muscle car the same. Dodge produced the R/T from 1970 to 1974. The Challenger came with a top speed of 146MPH and a quarter-mile time of 14.1 seconds. The muscle car weighed in at over 3,800 pounds and had a 110-inch wheelbase.

35. 1929 Bentley Speed 6
Model Year: 1929,Original Value: $1,450*, Current Value: $2.86 million*

Jay Leno drove his 1929 Bentley Speed 6 around the Mulholland Track. He’s also been spotted around LA in this unique silver antique car. The Speed 6 was first built in 1928, and it was the car that introduced Bentley to the world and helped establish it as a serious racing company. The 1929 Speed 6 has a 6.5-liter I6 engine under the hood. After its debut, it began winning races right away. It won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in both 1929 and 1930. Only 544 were ever made. It had a top speed of 84MPH, which was unheard of in the early twentieth century.

37. 1927 Duesenberg Model X
Model Year: 1927, Original Value: $8,500*, Current Value: $300,000-$400,000*

Leno discovered this Duesenberg Model X and immediately purchased it. He then donated it to the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum, run by Peter Heydon. The Model X is one of the rarest cars in the world. The Model X Dual-Cowl Phaeton, which Leno bought, was in remarkably good condition. The 1927 Duesenberg Model X has, according to Hemmings, been “elusive” for even Duesenberg’s most dedicated collectors to obtain. The Model X was designed by August Duesenberg himself, and he succeeded the Model A. The X was a far sportier version. It was built in the company’s Auburn, Indiana factory

39. 1931 Bentley 8-Liter
Model Year: 1931 , Original Value: $2,271*, Current Value: $8 million*

Jay Leno also chauffeured singer Kelly Rowland around in this Bentley, which is another classic Bentley in his collection. The 1931 Bentley 8-Liter was actually the daily driver of W.O. Bentley himself, and this Bentley is worth around $8 million. The pair drove (carefully) around LA in this powerful antique. The 1931 Bentley 8-Liter was the last car that W.O. ever designed for Bentley, and it weighed in at 5,000 pounds. Under the hood was a SOHC 8-liter (well, 7.933-liter, to be exact) I6 engine. It could get a 101.12MPH top speed, which was incredibly impressive at the time. The 8-Liter was the largest Bentley ever made.

40. 1966 427 Ford AC Cobra
Model Year: 1966, Original Value: $6,000*, Current Value: $2 million*
Joining Jay Leno’s impressive Cobra collection is the 1966 427 Ford AC Cobra. Leno bought this Cobra for just $6,000 back in 1963, and he described the shopping experience as “Pretty-Woman-esque.” He showed off the Cobra on Jay Leno’s Garage in 2016.
41. 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado
Model Year: 1966. Original Value: $3,688*
Current Value: $19,000*
Jay Leno owns a garage called Big Dog Garage, which is where he stores his 100+ car collection. His 1966 Oldsmobile Tornado is stored there, and it has been customized from its original form. When the ’66 Tornado came out, it was pretty advanced even back then. It was the first car to have front-wheel drive and be mass-produced. Leno added a new engine to the car. Now, the Tornado has a twin-turbo Corvette engine. It now gets 1,055HP. Of course, Leno had to add a powerful transmission to the Tornado, so he chose the Corvette C5 to handle the extra power.
WE CONTINUE WITH PART 3 OF "JAY LENO'S GARAGE" UP SHORTLY IN THIS ISSUE

This Week Our Photographic Journey Takes Us To :
Peggy's Cove is a small rural community located on the eastern shore of St. Margarets Bay in Nova Scotia's Halifax Regional Municipality, which is the site of Peggys Point Lighthouse. Wikipedia

The first recorded name of the cove was Eastern Point Harbour or Peggs Harbour in 1766. The village is likely named after Saint Margaret's Bay (Peggy being the nickname for Margaret), which Samuel de Champlain named after his mother Marguerite Le Roy.[1] There has been much folklore created to explain the name.
One story suggests the village may have been named after the wife of an early settler. The popular legend claims that the name came from the sole survivor of a shipwreck at Halibut Rock near the cove. Artist and resident William deGarthe said she was a young woman while others claim she was a little girl too young to remember her name and the family who adopted her called her Peggy.[2] The young shipwreck survivor married a resident of the cove in 1800 and became known as "Peggy of the Cove", attracting visitors from around the bay who eventually named the village Peggy's Cove, after her nickname.[3]
The village was founded in 1811 when the Province of Nova Scotia issued a land grant of more than 800 acres (320 ha) to six families of German descent. The settlers relied on fishing as the mainstay of their economy but also farmed where the soil was fertile. They used surrounding lands to pasture cattle. In the early 1900s the population peaked at about 300. The community supported a schoolhouse, church, general store, lobster cannery and boats of all sizes that were nestled in the cove.
Many artists and photographers flocked to Peggy's Cove. As roads improved, the number of tourists increased. Today the population is smaller but Peggy's Cove remains an active fishing village and a favourite tourist destination.
Roads and several homes were badly damaged at Peggy's Cove in 2003 by the extensive flooding that accompanied Hurricane Juan, which also damaged the cove's breakwater. The breakwater was further washed away by Hurricane Bill in 2009, allowing waves to seriously damage a home and gift shop, and washed away one of the cove's characteristic wooden fish sheds.

Mayor Teri Johnston and the City Commission has proclaimed 16 Days of Activism beginning November 25th in honor of an important effort by the Zonta Club of Key West. The effort is aimed at raising awareness about violence against women.
“Violence against women is not a women’s issue,” read the proclamation, “but a societal issue, often rooted in misinterpretations of history, inadequate laws, culture, and religions, traditional ideas of feminine and masculine identities.”
The Zonta Club of Key West, which includes 24 members that are women of professional and executive backgrounds, encourages the community to wear orange, the color designated in the “Zonta says No” campaign.
Zonta member Alison Kerr noted that, as in past years, they will be tying orange ribbons on the palms along North Roosevelt Blvd. as a reminder that Zonta says “no” to violence against women
The effort is part of a larger movement in which Zonta Clubs all over the world are engaging in an anti-violence campaign in conjunction with the United Nations and Zonta International.

The City of Key West is complying with Executive Order 20-244 under the statewide opening rules set forth by Governor Ron DeSantis, while keeping in place the safety measures that have been implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic to protect the residents and visitors of the City.
All individuals over the age of six who are physically located within the City must wear a face covering at all times when they are away from their residence with certain exceptions. All businesses must ensure masks are always worn by employees and the public. A copy of Emergency Ordinance 20-14 may be found here: https://www.cityofkeywest-fl.gov/DocumentCenter/View/1441.
Per the Governor’s Order suspending the collection of all fines and penalties applied to individuals for violating the City’s COVID-19 public health ordinances and directives, the City of Key West will continue to issue civil citations for individuals not wearing masks and will process fines and penalties upon the lifting of the Governor’s Order. Any fines and penalties assessed against businesses will continue to be enforced and collected.
As the holiday season approaches and given the recent increase in positive reported cases of COVID-19 within the City of Key West, it is important that we continue our efforts to reduce the spread of COVID-19 by hand-washing, social distancing and wearing our masks. The City reminds the community that the consistent usage of masks and other facial coverings will help the City avoid future business closures and is a more cost-effective means of addressing the COVID-19 pandemic.

Magic nannies, caped crusaders, friendly aliens...the groovy era was filled with outlandishly awesome plots. This was a time when walking into a studio executive meeting and pitching a show about a man driving cross-country with his monkey was given the green light immediately. The images collected here are full of optimistic, fantastical, and magic times from pop culture history. These happy days are yours and mine to look back at fondly anytime.

The Fonz and Mork from Ork on the episode My Favorite Orkan on Happy Days in 1978.
This epic image of television icons The Fonz (Henry Winkler) and Mork the Ork (Robin Williams), is from the episode of Happy Days titled “My Favorite Orkan”. In it, Richie Cunningham claims to have not only spotted a flying saucer, but to have spoken to its pilot. Naturally no one believes him. As it turns out, it was an alien named Mork, who wanted to take him back to the planet Ork, so he’d have a human specimen to present. The character of Mork was so well received by audiences that he got his own spin off series that same year, Mork & Mindy.

Erin Gray in TV series, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century (1979)
Pictured here is Erin Gray as Colonel Wilma Deering in Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. The science-fiction adventure television series ran for two seasons between 1979 and 1981. It had an entire feature-length film released theatrically but it was considered the ‘pilot episode’ for the show.
The premise emerged at the perfect time, “A 20th-century astronaut emerges out of 500 years of suspended animation into a future time to become Earth's greatest hero.” Both the movie and the series were developed by Glen A. Larson and Leslie Stevens. Larson had already released The pilot for Larson's other science-fiction series, Battle star Galactica had been released theatrically in some countries a year earlier and did well in the box office. That paired with the recent success of Star Wars pretty much guaranteed Buck Rogers a green light.

Gunsmoke - Milburn Stone (Doc ), Ken Curtis (Festus), Burt Reynolds (Quint), James Arness (as Matt Dillon) and Amanda Blake (Miss Kitty).
Here’s a great still of the stars of the classic western series Gunsmoke. Milburn Stone (Doc), Ken Curtis (Festus), Burt Reynolds (Quint), James Arness (as Matt Dillon) and Amanda Blake (Miss Kitty).
Gunsmoke is set in Dodge City, Kansas, during the settlement of the American West. It was originally a radio series, which ran from 1952 to 1961. Gunsmoke was the number one-ranked television show from 1957 to 1961went on to run for 20 seasons from 1955 to 1975, for a total of 635 episodes.

Schlemiel! Schlimazel! Hasenpfeffer Incorporated! Cindy Williams and Penny Marshall were zany, BFF roommates known as Laverne & Shirley. Laverne & Shirley was actually a spinoff series from Happy Days. Cindy Williams (Shirley) and Penny Marshall (Laverne) first appeared as friends of Fonzie before getting their own show. The first five seasons of Laverne & Shirley were set in Milwaukee where the girls share a basement apartment on Knapp Street and work as bottle-cappers in the Shotz Brewery. Which is where the show was really in its prime. After the fifth season, when the girls made the move to Burbank California, things were just never the same.

Pretty pair! A smiling 17 year-old Carrie Fisher with her mom, Debbie Reynolds in 1973.
Here we have a heartwarming photograph of famous mother-daughter duo, Debbie Reynolds, and Carrie Fisher, both of whom died within hours of each other in 2016. Carrie was just a fresh-faced 17-year-old girl, beaming alongside her mom back in 1973.
Carrie Fisher grew up to become widely adored as Princess Leia and celebrated as an author. Her mother, Debbie Reynolds, will always be best remembered for her breakout leading role as Kathy Selden in Singin' in the Rain (1952). The soulmates and iconic actresses are now sharing a tombstone at Hollywood's Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

The Cars (Elektra) 1978- Their debut album made it to #16 of Rolling Stones The 100 Best Debut Albums of All Time.
The new wave rock group The Cars were named "Best New Artist" in the 1978 Rolling Stone Readers' Poll. Their self-titled debut album sold six million copies and sat on the Billboard 200 album chart for 139 weeks.Their song "You Might Think" won “Video of the Year” at the first MTV Video Music Awards in 1984.
Sadly, The Cars broke up in 1988. The Elektra Years 1978–1987 is a boxed set which has all six albums The Cars released during that time period. After each album was newly remastered by Ted Jensen, the set was released in 2016 on Elektra Records.

We Now Continue with Part 3 of Probably 8 Weeks of showing an AMAZING 120+ Collection of Classic Cars Owned by Jay Leno "Jay Leno's Garage". He also had a CNBC TV Show Featuring his 120 Classic Cars WWW.LENOSGARAGE.COM
42. 2011 Audi R8 V10 Spyder
Model Year: 2011, Original Value: $167,000*
Current Value: $80,888*
Leno was one of the first people to acquire the 2011 Audi R8 V10 Spyder in 2010. This all-white Audi was one of 320 ever made for the American market, and Leno was, of course, one of the first people on the list to request the car when it came out. In total, internationally, 999 of these V10 R8s were made. The Audi has a top speed of 194MPH. The only engine option available for the car was a 5.2-liter V10, which got 525 horsepower. The 0 to 60 time on the R8 was 4.1 seconds, 0.4 seconds faster than the Audi V8 Coupe.
.

43. 2009 Aston Martin DBS
Model Year: 2009. Original Value: $250,000*
Current Value: $269,000*

The 2009 Aston Martin DBS was featured in the James Bond movies, and Jay Leno got to play an action star when he drove that car, which he described as “the most famous car in the world” around a track at Willow Springs Raceway. The DBS gets 510 horsepower and is hefty, with a curb weight of 3,737 pounds. The transmission choices were a six-speed automatic or manual, and, knowing Leno, he picked the manual. The MPG on the Aston Martin DBS isn’t great, as it gets 11MPG in the city and 17 on the highway. But, when it comes to flash, nothing beats it.

44. 1989 Bentley Turbo R
Model Year: 1989. Original Value: $149,500*
Current Value: $20,000*
Another member of the Big Dog Garage is the 1989 Bentley Turbo R. His car was one of 7,320 produced from 1985 until 1997. From 1997 until 1999, only 252 of these were produced in “RT” form. The Bentley Turbo R is similar to a Mulsanne Turbo, except the ride is smoother. Changes in the suspension made this car much more performance-oriented. These changes came as a result of a new engineering director, Mike Dunn, being appointed in 1983. Dunn increased his roll stiffness demand by 40%, and that tactic (which many people in Bentley opposed at the time) worked wonders.
45. 1957 Buick Roadmaster
Model Year: 1957. Original Value: $4,680*
Current Value: $14,000*
Another Leno car is the 1957 Buick Roadmaster, which he acquired back in 2015. He usually tries to restore classic cars, even switching out the parts the way he did with the Oldsmobile Tornado, but, in the case of the Roadmaster, he didn’t make many changes. He expressed that he didn’t want to change the engine, which is a 364cc engine with 300HP. The Roadmaster’s transmission (a Dynaflow), had a “bad reputation,” Leno admitted, but he felt that it gave the Buick a “smoother ride.” The Roadmaster is a giant car, and it was built with the largest wheelbase in Buick’s history at the time.

46. 1956 Chevy Nomad
Model Year: 1956. Original Value: $2,450*
Current Value: $89,950*
This 1956 Chevy Nomad was featured on a 2006 episode of Jay Leno’s Garage. It was restored by Chip Foose on his Overhaulin’ Show. The Nomad was part of the first generation, which took place from 1955 to 1957. The 1956 Nomad got a major facelift, and it changed the two-door station wagon, making the grille wider. Customers had told Chevy in 1955 that they didn’t like the front end of the Nomad, and Chevy listened. The Nomad’s new ’56 variation shared the same rear-wheel and interior sheet metal as Chevy Bel-Airs. The ’56 Nomad got a new padded dashboard too.
47. 1924 Bentley Twin Turbo
Model Year: 1924
Original Value: $1,785*
Current Value: $265,908*
Another iconic restoration that Leno has undertaken is this 1924 Bentley Twin Turbo. Though the chassis of this Bentley is set for a 3-liter engine, Leno has taken some liberties with the restoration and fitted the Bentley with an eight-liter twin-turbo engine that gets over 400 horsepower. The car was always impressive, even before Leno turned it into a hot rod. The 1924 Bentley 3 Litre won the 24 Hours of Le Mans race that same year, and it won the 24 Hours of Le Mans again, three years later. Only 1,622 3-Litres were ever produced between 1921 and 1929.
48. 1970 Mazda Cosmo
Model Year: 1970. Original Value: $4,390*
Current Value: $169,500*
Reportedly, the 1970 Mazda Cosmo was not an easy sell for Leno, who was unsure if he wanted the antique, white Cosmo. He decided to pull the trigger on it, and he featured it on his show some years back. This 1970 Cosmo 110S was purchased in 2012. The ’70 Cosmo was built ten years after Mazda made its first car. The sporty car was modified by Leno, as many others in his garage were. Like other cars in his garage, the Cosmo got a new engine under the hood. Its 12a was replaced with an RX-7 engine.
We continue with with Part 4 of Jay Leno's Garage in the November 23rd. Issue

Films to screen at outdoor venues with socially-distant seating program to focus on stories of Women, LGBTQ+, Music & Arts
The Key West Film Festival (KWFF) revealed its plans for the 9th annual festival, set for November 18-22, 2020. Building off the mantra of “Passion Meets Paradise,” the festival will be embracing its tropical paradise setting by moving all screenings to outdoor venues across the island. Each venue will feature socially-distant seating and masks will be required throughout all screenings. Full COVID-19 policies will be released in the upcoming weeks.
This year’s festival will have a spotlight on films by and about women, LGBTQ cinema, and movies about music and the arts! As always, outstanding work from Florida filmmakers will be presented, as well as critically-acclaimed shorts and features from around the world. Brooke Christian, Founder and Executive Director of the Key West Film Festival, notes “The staff of the 2020 Key West Film Festival is committed to helping provide the community with joy and inspiration during an incredibly tough year. We will use beautiful venues and stringent safety protocols to offer a smaller program using outdoor and streaming options. With many fewer films produced this year, we will still exact the highest standards of excellence for the festival.”
“Art builds community,” says Florida Keys Council of the Arts Executive Director Liz Young,” and I am a huge fan of what the Key West Film Festival brings to our island community. I especially love that this year the festival will be utilizing our beautiful outdoor venues so we can continue to experience the cutting-edge films the festival brings to the island, many of which go on to win major awards, including Oscars. We are so fortunate to experience great filmmaking, talk backs with industry professionals, while showing off all that Key West has to offer.” FOR ADDITIONAL INFO AND PHOTOS GO TO THEIR ADDITIONAL FEATURE FURTHER DOWN ; as well as WWW.KWFILMFEST.COM ALSO THERE IS a 2:52 Minute Trailer for the Movie : Gimme Shelter in Part 2 of the Key West Film Fest Feature in this Issue. Nanny and the Professor starred Juliet Mills as Phoebe Figalilly, who takes care of Professor Everett's (Richard Long) three children.
Here are Juliet Mills as Nanny Phoebe Figalilly and Richard Long as Professor Harold Everett in the sitcom Nanny and the Professor. If you think the title is questionable, it was almost worse if you can believe it. The original title for the show during the pre-production stages was Nanny Will Do– this ended up being the title for the first episode instead.
The whole premise for the show was playing upon the successes of Mary Poppins. They figured you could never have too many magical nannies. Although this nanny has abilities far less overt. Her paranormal abilities were only implied, things like including knowing the names of people she has never met, communicating with animals and knowing someone will call or come to the door before they actually do.

Here's a scene with Robert Conrad, Sammy Davis Jr., Hazel Court and Ross Martin in The Wild Wild West (1965)
The Wild Wild West was a television series that was developed a western that also featured a number of fantasy elements. Because the Western genre was beginning to lose out to the spy genre, the combination of technologically advanced devices and the Victorian era time-frame gave The Wild Wild West quite the ratings winning edge. This show is actually widely credited with contributing to the origins of the steampunk subculture.
Violence was a heavy issue in the series. Some episodes were exceptionally violent for the time period and that was ultimately the show’s downfall. Despite having very high ratings, the series was canceled near the end of its fourth season.

Pictured here is the rather large cast of The Waltons back in 1975. The television series ran from 1971 to 1981 and was centered on the daily lives of the Walton family. The show took place in the thirties and forties so it was an exploration of what life was like during the Great Depression and World War II from the perspective of a family in rural Virginia. The show was very well received, it even tied in ratings with shows like M*A*S*H and The Partridge Family
This cool photo was taken in 1976 of Paul McCartney and Wings during the Wings Over America Tour.

On May 3rd 1976 Paul McCartney launched the wings over America Tour. This marked his one and only North American tour with wings. It was McCartney's first trip back to the United States since the Beatles final tour in the summer of 1966.
McCartney and Wings toured extensively throughout the U.K., Europe, and Australia. Various lineups of the group have included his wife Linda McCartney on keyboards and Moody Blues co-founder and multi-instrumentalist Denny Laine.

Annie Potts and Mark Hamill in Corvette Summer, 1978.
Ah yes, 1978’s Corvette Summer, the adventure comedy film where Annie Potts was a self described “prostitute in training” who helped Luke Skywalker hunt down his stolen Corvette. This was Annie Potts' first film role and Mark Hamill's first screen appearance after Star Wars–which had just been released the previous year.
Hamill stars as a teenager who helps build a customized Chevrolet Corvette Stingray with right-hand-drive for shop class. The car ends up stolen and he ends up heading out to Las Vegas to track it down. This is where he meets co-star Annie Potts, who was nominated for a Golden Globe award for her performance.

Producers Harry Vanda and the late George Young working with Angus Young in the studio during the sessions for AC-DC's 'Powerage' - 1978.
Here is a shot of Angus Young of AC-DC hard at work with producers Harry Vanda and the late George Young. This particular session was for AC-DC's fifth studio album, 'Powerage' in 1978.
The Australian hard rock band was formed in Sydney back in 1973 by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young. While they are a hard rock band with blues-rock influences, they have also been widely considered a heavy metal band. But at the end of the day, it's all rock and roll.

As usual, we are hosting our annual toy drive for Samuel's House and Wesley House for the holidays. Like many, due to the pandemic, we have had to make many adjustments - including how we safely move forward in providing gifts this year.
We are asking those that can contribute to provide a gift card and/or food gift card in place of buying toys. If you would like to contribute, but are unable or too uncomfortable to join us at our Mixer, please feel free to stop by our visitor's center anytime Monday-Saturday from 9-5 to drop off your contribution (or mail your gift - 808 Duval St.) by December 4th, and we will handle the rest!

UPDATED HOURS
Sean and Jill send regards and tell us that us that the Market is going strong and will be open atleast until the end of the year and probably beyond.

Truman Waterfront Farmers Market Adjusts Sunset Hours

The Truman Waterfront Farmers Market will adjust hours of operation on Thursdays to 2 pm until 7 pm until further notice to accommodate daylight saving time and earlier sunsets. The Market was Thursdays from 3 pm to sunset. The successful move in time helps beat the heat and allows residents an opportunity to shop after work. The Market typically includes cheese, produce, fruit, baked goods, coffee, plants and fresh seafood along with international cuisine available for take-away. Arts, crafts and general merchandise round out the offerings. Market organizers have offered additional picnic-style food options, occasional acoustic musicians and a beer and wine stand to encourage the community to shop the market, get dinner and enjoy the sunset views from the Truman Waterfront Park. Blankets and lawn chairs are permitted with ample space to social distance.

Stringent safety measures and precautions remain in place to guard guests and the vendors who serve them. Masks are required, spaced line management enforced, social distance signage posted and the number of guests per stall limited. Booths are spaced out in one long row down the Mole facing the open ocean. Key West First Legal Rum Distillery free "Ruminizer" hand sanitizing stations are at the entrance. Organizers realize patrons may be eager to socialize but are reminded to not congregate in groups larger than 10.

In an effort to honor one of Key West’s most beloved events and keep the community safe, the City is exploring several hybrid options for the annual Holiday Parade slated to be held on December 5th.
Options being explored include a possible change of venue, a drive-by parade or even a static parade. Masks will be required and there will be no candy handed out this year, in keeping with strict CDC guidelines.
In order to determine all factors, the City needs float applications to be submitted by November 20th. In order to obtain an application, call Maria Ratcliff at 305-809-3881.
