BEFORE WE GO TO ALL THE ART AND ENTERTAINMENT FEATURES

ALSO JUST RELEASED BY THE CITY OF KEY WEST (6/19) THIS NOTICE BELOW THAT ADDRESSES THE NEED TO WEAR A MASK OUTSIDE WHEN SOCIAL DISTANCING CAN'T BE DONE..Like all the photos we have been seeing the last few days of CROWDED DUVAL SIDEWALKS WITH NO ONE WEARING MASKS. These Photos made me Physically and Mentally ill. Mayor Johnston in her Weekly Video Message a few days ago ( Contained in our "Crisis Information Section") talks about Closing Duval Street to Vehicles in Order to Spread Out the Crowds. Of Course My Opinion : Everyone around other people should wear masks regardless of How Far Apart They are going to TRY TO BE (since especially on Duval Street the people will be walking past one another). It's amazing how before this Crisis our Problems seemed so Major; when NOW they are Staying Alive and having Some Income.

The City of Key West has issued Directive 2020-13, which streamlines the City’s mask requirements with those of Monroe County regarding the wearing of face coverings.
The directive requires that everyone over the age of six shall, while away from their home anywhere in the city, wear a face covering when not maintaining a distance of six feet from others. It continues the requirement of wearing a face covering when inside any business establishment.
Additionally, it requires that everyone carry a face covering that can be used immediately, in case social distancing becomes difficult to maintain. This means that moving about outdoors without a mask is permissible, as long as you can maintain social distancing. But you must have a mask with you, in case you find yourself too close to others, say, on a crowded sidewalk.
As before, there are exceptions which allow for removing the facial coverings, which include lodging guests in their rooms, and while eating and drinking in public establishments.
The directive can be read in its entirety at www.cityofkeywest-fl.gov

Dear Last Stand Members and Friends:

We want to hear from you! We want to know what’s on your mind. This year the Last Stand board has had to modify plans for more community outreach. Some ideas, such as in-person educational workshops, have been postponed due to Covid-19. In the interest of public health, we have added Florida Keys Beach Water Quality Reports (with a link to the Florida Healthy Beaches Program) both on our website and as an ad in The Key West Citizen.
You can help by giving us feedback in the short survey below regarding how often you would like to hear from us and what issues are important to you. We will use that information to update you on issues we’re considering or actively working on. THANKS!

Key West Trays
“When everything seems to be in disarray, it is a sign that something small and wonderful is trying to be born, and it needs us to be distracted so that it has room to grow” — paraphrase of a Buddhist wisdom saying.
In times like these, creativity may bloom and allow unlikely combinations to develop into something wonderful. Such is the case with our new Key West trays. During our COVID-19 shutdown, Mark had some extra time to explore creative pursuits. He also had some extra bottles of underglaze that needed to be used to free up shelf space. Click link below for the complete article

A Message from Michael Nelson and Allison Rich at the KW Public Library
Online Book Club Fridays!! Our main focus is on New Adult Literature. "New Adult" literature are books that are Young Adult books with slightly more mature themes and content or Adult books that can be enjoyed by teens. It's great for YA readers and non-YA readers alike to explore the genre and discuss them online.

And what's this? A link to all of our selections so far for the New Adult Book Club? Say whaaaaatttt?!?!?!?

Read a book, and then pop into the event discussion on Fridays and give us your thoughts! It's ok if you've just started it or have finished your third! We want to hear from you. Let's talk about books! :)
