nCompass is a tool provided by the TDC for our destination which provides travel intelligence reports which show year over year analytics on our market searches and bookings - both as a whole destination and now by property tier levels as well.  These reports also provide domestic and international  target markets for the book time frame as well, based on booking windows. Frost-free Key West becomes a "wiener wonderland" when about 200 dachshunds and their owners take a noontime New Year's Eve stroll through the island's picturesque downtown. Spectators can watch the fun and meet the canine participants on Fleming Street between Whitehead and Duval streets.

January 3, 2019 Orange Bowl Swimming Classic
Some of the best college swimmers - and perhaps future Olympians - in the country compete at Jacobs Aquatic Center, mile marker (MM) 99.6 Oceanside, in a competition that is part of the celebration surrounding the annual Orange Bowl college football game in Miami. Spectators are invited to attend this free event, meet the swimmers and coaches. Racing is set to begin at 10 a.m., 305- 453-7946.
The 2019 topic is "Under the Influence." Literary aficionados from around the world are to gather for readings, discussions and lectures led by some of contemporary literature's most acclaimed writers. KWLS has assembled some of today's most dazzling writers for a journey through literary archetypes-from Shakespeare and Homer to African folktales and early 20th-century novels and comic-book heroes-as we seek to understand the nature of literary influence.

The 10-day food, wine and spirits showcase features 30-plus savory events to please virtually every palate and budget, spread among numerous Upper Keys venues with fresh, locally sourced seafood and international-style dishes. The festival's outdoor 'A Grand Tasting,' is set for Jan. 19. What better reason to 'Uncork' and unwind in the Florida Keys. For a complete events schedule, visit website. floridakeysuncorked.com

Admission and parking at this event are free, held at the Lower Keys Chamber of Commerce grounds, MM31, from 8AM to 2PM. Find steals and deals on everything imaginable for boating, fishing, diving and more, from dozens of vendors. Crafts, food and beverage, live music and entertainment round out the two-day event. 

Some of America's most celebrated Celtic musical masters are to be featured at the Marathon Community Park, MM 49. The festival will also feature Irish and Scottish dancing, Highland athletics, Celtic merchandise, food and beverage booths and children's activities.

Holiday Construction Schedule
There will be no lane or shoulder closures between Saturday, December 22 and Wednesday, January 2, 2019, in observance of the Holiday.

Roadway Construction Project: SR 5/US 1 Overseas Highway from west of N Johnson Road Mile Marker (MM) 19.804 to east of Bow Channel Bridge MM 20.598 and west of Kemp Channel MM 23.101 to east of Niles Channel MM 26.265 

Project Start: June 2018  

Estimated Projected Completion: January 2019
  
PLANNED CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY: Daytime shoulder closures and lane shifts to occur over the next few
weeks.

SHOULDER CLOSURES: There will be daytime isolated shoulder closures and lane shifts in both northbound and southbound directions, to accommodate pedestrian bridge railing installation, over the next couple of weeks. This work will occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m  

Bridge Rehabilitation Project: SR 5/US 1/Overseas Highway/New Seven Mile Bridge (Moser Channel) (MM 40 to MM 46.8)

Project Start: April 2017

Estimated Projected Completion: October 2019

PLANNED CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY: There are no planned construction activities at this time. However,please note that effective Monday, December 24, all daytime lane shifts will be temporarily suspended and resume on Wednesday, January 2, 2019.  

Bridge Repair/Rehabilitation Project: SR 5/US 1/Overseas Highway/Old Seven Mile Bridge from Knights Key to Pigeon Key (MM 46.8 to MM 44.6)

Project Start: September 2017

Estimated Projected Completion: October 2021

PLANNED CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY: The Contractor will continue performing steel repair work under the bridge this week. However, please note that effective Monday, December 24, construction activities will be temporarily suspended and resume on Thursday, January 3, 2019.
